Practical guidance for your prescriptions

  • Copy-denture workflow: send the existing denture itself or a scan/model of it.
  • For immediates, extraction-stage records and the surgical plan define the design start point.
  • Border moulding quality dominates fit - follow your usual impression protocol; we design to what we receive.
  • Palateless designs require implant attachments; confirm the attachment system before framework design.

Reference figures are widely accepted industry values for the material/system class - case-specific parameters are confirmed at design. Reviewed by the Istar case coordination team.

Indications & limits

Immediate dentures are built to be adjusted, not to be perfect on day one - mark extraction expectations clearly.

Tooth mould and shade history from your prescription notes is the most valuable line in a denture Rx - send what the patient liked or disliked.

What to submit with your case

  • Final impressions (or scans) of both arches
  • Jaw relation records and bite rim feedback
  • Tooth mould, shade and any patient history notes
  • Photos of the patient's smile and face (for contour reference)
  • For copy-denture: the existing prosthesis itself

How the case is made & checked

Intake: workflow choice and records check
Trays/rims or straight to design, per workflow
Try-in stage with adjustment notes written back to the case
Processing, finishing and polish
Inspection: fit surface, occlusion, aesthetics
Release and protective packaging

Occlusion and fit-surface quality are inspected at release; tooth position checked against the approved try-in records.

Production time & shipping

Stage-dependent and confirmed at case acceptance; repairs and relines run on short turnaround. Waiting between your appointments is not production time.

Real cases

Copy-denture for a long-term denture wearer

Contours and tooth position copied from the patient's existing prosthesis, with shade and wear surface updated per the clinic's instructions.

Frequently asked questions

Can you work from a patient's old denture?
Yes - copy-denture and reline workflows are standard. Send the prosthesis with instructions on what to keep and what to change.
Which tooth moulds and shades do you use?
Major tooth systems and shades are available; choices are stored in your preference profile for repeat cases.
Digital or conventional workflow - which do you run?
Both. The digital workflow (scan or impressions plus records, then designed try-ins) is the default because it gives predictable try-in stages and an archived design. Conventional impression-based workflows are equally welcome.
What try-in stages do you provide?
Standard stages are: rim/record stage if needed, a tooth-try-in for aesthetics and occlusion, then the finished denture. Each stage ships with photos and you can request changes between stages.
Which denture teeth do you use?
We work with recognised denture teeth brands; the specific brand can be locked on your account profile or confirmed per case. The brand used is recorded on the invoice.
Can you make copy dentures or immediate dentures?
Yes - send the existing denture (or a scan/model of it) for a copy-denture workflow, and the extraction-stage records for immediates. Both follow the same try-in stages where possible.
